Dr. Momaya is fantastic! I had knee arthroscopy a little over two weeks ago. My initial evaluation at the UAB Highlands clinic was very easy to schedule and attend. Dr. Momaya patiently listened to my symptoms and reviewed all my imaging with me. He was very honest with his evaluation and recommendations. We both agreed on arthroscopy which he did for me at UAB Highlands. The system was easy to navigate on op day. The staff was informed and well organized, and I was treated superbly. Immediate post op care was monitored very well with follow up phone calls and physical therapy. On my two week follow up visit, Dr. Momaya reviewed all the arthroscopy photos that he had taken, explaining each abnormality he had found and his approach to fix it. He is an incredible surgeon, and the surgery was very "clean" and precise - no unnecessary nonsense - which has made post op recovery very easy. I felt like I was a fully informed and respected part of the decision making process at all times which can be hard to find in healthcare these days. I would send any of my friends and family members to Dr. Momaya for treatment. Highly recommended surgeon!

I have had shoulder issues for at least 30 years and finally injured it so badly that I could no longer pass with it. Two torn rotator cuff tendons, a torn labrum and bicep tendinosis. I had lived with some weakness and pain for decades. I had very little pain after the repair surgery and didn’t even take my pain meds that were prescribed. I completed four months of rehab and now have less pain And more strength than I did before the injury. My overall experience with Dr. Momaya and his office has been fantastic. I would recommend him to anyone that is interested in having surgical joint repair.

My experience with UAB Orthopedics was stellar. From initial consultation with Dr Momaya to ACL repair surgery to physical therapy, each interaction was done with attention to detail and care. This level of professionalism is in short supply these days and it was refreshing to experience this at UAB Orthopedics.

I had a full ACL reconstruction and MCL ramp repair 11 months ago, and have been “released” from care for 2 months, and PT for 1 month. I have been back playing my sport, roller derby, for 1 month at about the same level as when i obtained my injury. As an “older athlete” (39) playing a niche sport I have appreciated the encouragement from Dr. Momaya, his staff, and the PT’s (shout out to Justin Kirk!) that collaborated to provide me the best possible care. It is clear that there was never a doubt that I would recover successfully, return to play, or be stronger on the other side of surgery. I send all of my fellow skaters and folks I know who are dealing with injuries to see Dr. Momya/Justin Kirk and the UAB Sports Medicine team because I know that they will get the best care in the state!

Very informative about entire procedure including pre- and post-op. The staff was organized and let me know everything that was and would be going on in my care. I'm 6 weeks out and extremely pleased with the whole process.
