Amazing place with the nicest staff! I came in as a patient of Dr. Momaya's after an ugly motorcycle accident that left me with countless injuries, with the worst one being the multi ligament injury in my right knee. Dr. Momaya and his team did a phenomenal job putting me back together and in just over a year later I am able to jog, almost run, jump, and do all those things that I never thought I'd be able to do again. Not only will he fix you right, but he will make you feel like you made a friend along the way.

Dr. Momaya performed an ACL and Meniscus repair surgery on my right knee on June 5th, 2025! From the consultation, to pre-op, to the surgery, to post-op and after surgery, Dr. Momaya has been very caring, attentive, accommodating, and loving in my care! He kept it straightforward with me and told me that he would do his best to get me back to my old self pre-injury, and He has done just that! I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr. Momaya for any orthopedic surgery! Thank you for all that you have done, Dr. Momaya! I would you use you 10xs over againš«¶š¾š«¶š¾š«¶š¾!!!!

I would highly recommend Dr Momaya to anyone needing an Orthopedic Surgeon, I had a running accident in August of 2025 and had a ruptured quadricep muscle. Dr Momaya did the surgery and the recovery process has been great, he is an excellent doctor and takes time with his patients.

Dr. Momaya treated me after I broke my knee. He saw me quickly and helped come up with a solid treatment plan. He had me back up and moving within days of surgery.

Dr. Momaya was extremely nice and informative!

Dr. Momaya and his team are nothing short of stellar!! I suffered a major knee dislocation in early February 2025 at a jiu jitsu competition. Had surgery in April of 2025. ACL and PLC reconstruction, PCL repair, Partial Lateral Meniscectomy, and a Peroneal Nerve Neurolysis. Almost 4 months post op currently. I'm still working on ROM and light strengthening. I can stand, walk, and do most everything myself currently. I know there is still a long road ahead for a full recovery, but I know I'll get there. Dr. Momaya's confidence in his and his teams' abilities make you feel like you're in the right place with the right person for the job. They always answered my MANY questions (sorry Ms. Sarah) and responded in a timely manner. They were always professional and courteous, and you can tell they truly enjoy getting people back to their active lifestyles! Ill be sure to update this review as i progress in my recovery as well. THANK YOU DR. MOMAYA AND THE ENTIRE TEAM AT UAB SPORTS AND EXERCISE MEDICINE!!!!!!!!!!!! Edit 1: Im about 5.5 months post op now. I have full ROM to 120ā° with mild discomfort and can get to around 130ā° painfully.. I am certain that ill be able to sit on my heels within the next 6 months to a year. Ive also started running and completed my first mile at a 10 minute pace this past monday!! Ive also started light training in jiu jitsu again and look forward to returning to full training soon!!! Edit 2: Currently 10 months post op. Just hit 315lbs deadlifts for two sets of 5 reps after multiple sets before at 275lbs and 225lbs, and all of that at 4 sets of 10 at 225 lbs full depth (not atg) squats. Hit a cheated 30" box jump followed by about 50 solid ones at 26" this is mostly due to the mental factor of seeing the 30" jump in my mind again. Leg strength/size is probably 80% of my good one. Im sure id be closer to 100% by now but working and lack of time to strength train has slowed that progress. I also have just sat on my heels for the first time a few weeks ago (excruciatingly) but I got there. I routinely touch my butt to my heels by the end of my ROM warmups. Stil very very painful but it eases throughout the warmup. I.e. the first round hurts more than the second, second round hurts more than the third etc. I should be mostly pain free on my heels within 6 months. Could not have done it without the help from Dr. Momaya and his team! Pro tip: Do your physical therapy! It is supposed to be painful. Suck it up, grit your teeth, go to whatever place in your mind that allows you to push through the pain. It is temporary but getting back to your best mobile self and the activities you love is forever!!!

Could not have asked for a better surgeon, Highly recommend Momaya to any highschool or college athletes

Dr. Momaya is a compassionate physician. He listens carefully and answers questions respectfully and completely. His knowledge of orthopedic issues is very current, and he is mindful that his patients do not necessarily understand medical terms. Knowing this, he describes medical issues so that lay people can understand. I feel fortunate to be in his care.

DR. MOMYA did my sons surgery for hip impengement a few years ago. I cannot say enough good things about the experience all the way around. I work in health care and can say I would trust him with anyone that I know. The service is excellent and the surgery went phenomenal. He worked a miracle for my son. We are forever grateful for him

I canāt thank Dr. Momaya enough for the amazing work he did on my knee surgery. After months of pain and limited mobility, he took the time to listen to my concerns, showed me my scans, and outlined a clear plan. His expertise as an orthopedic surgeon really shone through, the surgery was precise, and there were no complications. Already being 6 week postoperative I am moving better than I expected , with minimal pain to no pain and steady progress in physical therapy. The office staff was friendly, scheduling was easy, and follow-up appointments were thorough. If youāre looking for a skilled, compassionate doctor who truly changes lives,Dr. Momaya and his staff is the one!

Dr. Momaya is always considerate and caring. He greets me with compassion and respect. Could not ask for a better doctor

Dr. Momaya was by far the best surgeon and dr a girl could ask for. After multiple surgeries, his procedure on my left knee and the healing time was amazing and the best ever. If I ever have issues in the future Dr. Momaya is where I will come and so should you!

Dr. Momaya is an incredible surgeon! When I first visited, he recommended we try all non-surgical remedies before proceeding with surgery (which was surprising to hear a surgeon with that recommendation). After exhausting all options, I opted for surgery. He did a fantastic job in explaining the process, risks, recovery, and outlook. The pain from the surgery was much lower than expected, and the recovery protocols were well outlined. After 4 months of PT, I was pain free and my progress followed exactly what Dr. Momaya advised. Now that I'm 7 months post-op, I'm back to 100% strength with no pain at all. I would highly recommend him to anyone!
