Knee Cartilage Lesion Fixation
My daughter, Emma, had sustained a significant injury to her knee when playing outside in the fall of 2021. An entire piece of cartilage had been ripped off her knee and was floating inside the joint. We initially saw one doctor who felt that this surgery was very complex and thus referred us to Dr. Momaya. We saw Dr. Momaya, who recognized immediately that she had a cartilage defect in the knee. He recommended surgery to save the piece and fix it.
We were taken to surgery within a few days and it was a success. He made an incision on the knee and fixed the cartilage back like a puzzle piece. She had minimal pain after surgery and did very well. She is well out from surgery now and doing great. She is back to her activities and having no pain or stiffness.
We are so grateful that we were referred to Dr. Momaya. He is clearly an expert in the field who not only is a great surgeon but also does lots of research.
