Cartilage Transplant and High Tibial Osteotomy

I am an extremely active person and a competitive pickleball athlete. I injured my knee and experienced progressive pain and thus decided to get it checked out. After seeing a physician, I was referred to Dr. Momaya once the MRI showed a large osteochondral defect in the knee. Dr. Momaya got me in quickly. He obtained full length alignment films to check how my weight passes from my hip to the ankle and explained how there was a mechanical issue that may have caused this. Because of the size of the defect and my alignment, he recommended a fresh osteochondral allograft transplant surgery along with correcting my alignment with a high tibial osteotomy.

The surgery went very well. He was very specific in his post-operative instruction and therapy instructions. I felt at ease knowing I was with someone considered a cartilage expert not only regionally but nationally. At each post-operative visit, he took his time to show me xrays and explain where we were in the healing process.

I am now back to playing competitive pickleball and doing very well. I owe it to Dr. Momaya for performing such a complex surgery on my leg to get me back. I highly recommend him for any athlete or weekend warrior with an injury.
