Shoulder Labral Repair
I dislocated by shoulder playing soccer a few years ago. I played at a high level both with Alabama FC (BUSA) and Legion FC. When my shoulder dislocated, I knew something was wrong. I was referred to Dr. Momaya. As soon as I walked into the office and looked around at the wall with all the professional and collegiate soccer players he had taken care of, I knew he was the surgeon I wanted to be treated by.
He obtained an MRI which showed that I tore my labrum off the socket. He recommended surgery to be done arthroscopically. My post-operative course went smoothly. He had a comprehensive physical therapy protocol and routinely checked in with me. He was approachable and knowledgeable the entire time.
After I signed with the University of Virginia to play collegiate soccer, he made sure to coordinate my return to play timeline with the coaches and team doctor there. Everything went well, and I am happy to say I have continued playing at the collegiate level without any shoulder issues.
I am grateful to have been treated by Dr. Momaya. He is the go to surgeon in Alabama for soccer athletes!
